This fall, I will begin my college journey at North Carolina A&T State University, majoring in kinesiology with a focus on sports management. Through my education, I will grow my knowledge and gain hands-on experience through internships and different opportunities. My career goal is to work within the world of athletics whether as a coach, trainer, or sports administrator to uplift and guide young athletes, especially those from communities like mine. I’ve always been passionate about sports, not just for the competition but for the life lessons it teaches: teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and leadership. These are values I plan to carry into my career and pass on to others.
Coming from a small town like Quip, I know firsthand how easy it can be to feel limited by your environment. Opportunities don’t always come easily, and many kids grow up not seeing a clear path forward. I want to be a visible example of what’s possible when you work hard, stay focused, and commit to personal growth. Through my degree in kinesiology, I will have the academic background to help athletes succeed physically and mentally. Through my personal experience, I can relate to the challenges young people face and help them navigate those obstacles.
Receiving this scholarship would significantly ease the financial burden that college places on my mother and myself. As a first-generation college student, I understand the value of education and the sacrifices required to pursue it. This scholarship would not only help cover tuition and expenses, but it would also allow me to fully focus on my studies, internships, and community service opportunities without the added stress of financial strain.
Ultimately, my goal is to return to communities like Quip and provide mentorship, build youth sports programs, and advocate for resources that support young people’s growth. This scholarship is not just an investment in my education—it’s an investment in the many lives I hope to impact through my future work.
