As my senior year is coming to an end, I’m eager to take advantage of my college experience at Morgan State University. My decision is influenced by my family’s legacy, as my mom and aunt are proud alumnus. Education is very important to me, and I’m excited about joining Morgan’s renowned engineering program. My career plans center around pursuing a degree in civil engineering. This choice stems from my passion for contributing to the development and improvement of my community. Morgan provides a robust program with a commitment to urban development and community engagement. Civil engineering will help me impact the world around me by designing sustainable infrastructure and addressing critical needs like housing, transportation, and environmental management.

I learned the importance of design and environmental safety from my family’s career expertise. The passion my parents have for real estate and providing affordable housing in Aliquippa has inspired my decision to study civil engineering and work on local projects that address infrastructure deficiencies to improve the quality of life for residents. My aunt is the CEO of Code Differently, a training and educational program for underrepresented individuals in the tech world. Her commitment to giving back and providing opportunities in the tech industry also inspired me.

Being awarded the Darrelle Revis Foundation Scholarship would help ease the financial burden on my parents, as I do not qualify for any financial aid. This scholarship will not only support me academically but also allow me to pursue internships for practical experience. This support will play a major role in my goal of graduating and securing a job with a local or state government agency or a reputable construction firm, where I can apply my academic knowledge as well as practical experiences.

In conclusion, with my goal of obtaining a civil engineering degree and the support of the Darrelle Revis Foundation Scholarship I am determined to create a meaningful legacy of my own. I plan to contribute to my community, while being a role model for my younger brothers, and honoring the path set by my family. Thank you for considering my application.
