Ever since I can remember I’ve always loved the game of football. From game planning to on field action I love every aspect of football. I want to be a football coach because I want to bring a well-rounded fresh perspective to a team. I’ll emphasize the importance of academics being that we are student-athletes not athlete students. I want to coach my team with fairness and have my players have the same level of access to me. I want to be able to reach them beyond the field. Growing up in a social media world, I know the struggle of trying to remain focused. I don’t want my players to make the same mistakes I did. I want to show them how to remain focused, get good grades, and still have fun. Once I graduate from college, I want to use my talents and pay it forward to my community. I want to be the example that you can come from a small town and become a power for good. The end goal is to become a football coach. I want to direct the youth in a positive direction.
In order for my dreams to become reality, I need financial assistance. Due to online learning, my GPA suffered which limited my ability to receive scholarships. I worked extremely hard this year to boost my GPA. The first half of the 2021-2022 school year I maintained honor roll status. My plan is to continue working hard to finish out the school year strong. I want to be the example that it isn’t how you start it’s how you finish. I’ve made mistakes however, Livingstone College granted me with a chance of academic success in which I am beyond grateful and excited for. If awarded the scholarship, it will help with the cost of tuition. Coming from a single parent household, my mom would have to take out a lot of student loans. My mom has worked extremely hard to give me everything I need. I really don’t want her to be burdened with loans because I have two younger sisters. This scholarship would be less of a financial burden on her and it would be a great help to me.
